This is the HG Gundam Perfect Strike Freedom, the third entry in the Gundam Breaker Battlogue series. True to its name, it takes the Strike Freedom Gundam as its inspiration and dresses it up in a Perfect Strike Gundam-style configuration combining Aile, Sword, and Launcher elements. It comes with a massive backpack called the Super Multiple Assault Striker, and both arms and shoulders are loaded with weapons reminiscent of the Launcher Pack and Sword Pack.
The base body largely carries over the structure of the HGCE Strike Freedom Gundam, though the upper body has been redesigned in a Strike Gundam style. The right arm and shoulder feature a Launcher Pack-style combo weapon pod and the stun unit Indra, while the left arm and shoulder carry a Sword Pack-style rocket anchor Panzer Eisen and beam blade Licht Fang.
The Super Multiple Assault Striker's basic shape is similar to the Aile Pack, but the wings and boosters have grown to an enormous size. Up top, the Xiphias 3 rail guns that were originally mounted on the Strike Freedom Gundam's waist are also present. Looking at the sheer size and volume of the backpack, you'd naturally worry about how well everything holds together — but thankfully the joints are solid, and everything locks in firmly no matter what angle you put it at. When standing on a flat surface, the center of gravity shifts completely to the rear, but you can actually use the massive lower boosters as a kind of support stand, so getting it to stand upright is surprisingly easy.
For weapons, you get the Hyper Impulse Gun Agni and the anti-ship sword Schwert Gewehr — they feel like streamlined, simplified versions of the Strike Gundam's sword and launcher. What's interesting is that the two can be combined into a rifle/sword mode, and each one can also be mounted on the boosters at the bottom of the Super Multiple Assault Striker. Weapons that mount like this can often fall off easily, but the connection is solid and there are zero issues with them staying in place.
The base kit was already excellent quality, so the body delivers top-tier articulation and rock-solid joint strength. The large, flashy weapons and armaments all hold their positions well too, giving the whole kit a very satisfying sense of stability overall. The fact that something this big and elaborate can hold its poses this firmly is genuinely impressive. The stand joint part grips the bottom of the backpack, enabling stable aerial poses, and thanks to that you can pull off all kinds of dramatic, showy stances with ease.
While the series concept involves reusing existing kits, when the upgrades are this spectacular and the quality is this good, it's hard not to be won over. The smooth yet secure joint stability relative to the complex structure is practically top-tier among all Gunpla, making this a must-recommend HG kit for anyone who loves flashy builds. :-)
