Meteor Hopper

Kit Review

Straight build + Stickers

The fourth Build Fighters custom parts release brings us the Meteor Hopper — a completely original unit. Previous releases in this line were parts from specific mobile suits sold separately, but this time it's been released as a standalone unit designed to combine with the HG Wing Gundam Fenice.

The overall shape is a unique unicycle motorcycle(?) kind of design, with a color scheme and styling that feels like something out of Tiger & Bunny. Since it uses the standard stand peg hole, technically any HG kit can ride it, but the colors and overall design are clearly tailored to match its intended pilot, Wing Gundam Fenice. Feature-wise, the side binders and wings on both sides can be deployed, and it comes with both a floor stand for ground display and a stand peg hole for aerial display.

Having HG Wing Gundam Fenice ride on it looks pretty stylish, but the fit in riding mode isn't all that great. The buster rifle and nose section up front are especially loose and keep falling off, so you'll need to watch out for that — and there are other minor issues too, like the arms tending to slip out because the angle is a bit awkward when seating an HG kit.

That said, it's a genuinely unique and distinctive mech that you don't often see in the Gundam universe, so it seems like it could be put to all sorts of creative uses beyond just carrying HG Wing Gundam Fenice. :-)
