The gatling gun is a seriously imposing piece of armament beloved by both military and mecha enthusiasts alike, and this kit is designed so you can configure it in a variety of combinations to work with all kinds of kits.

First off, by selectively assembling the roughly ten separate parts, you can build it in two forms: a hand-held style or a ground-mounted stand style. The barrel, grip, side accessories and more can all be swapped out freely, so you can mix and match however you like. The grip section in particular comes in two sizes to fit both 1/144 and 1/100 kits, making it compatible across multiple scales.

That said, when I actually tried fitting it to the various kits recommended in the manual, it wasn't quite as easy as I expected. The stand configuration holds together pretty well, but getting a good angle for the hand-held shooting pose is surprisingly tricky. It's got a bit more heft to it than you'd think, and with HG-line kits, if the hand parts don't have a solid grip it's hard to keep it held up. On top of that, you really need both hands to hold it steady, so whether or not the kit's arms can be positioned properly makes a big difference.

For example, the HGUC Geara Doga was relatively easy to hold it with, but the HGUC Geara Zulu could barely manage to hold on — so the compatibility with each kit matters more than it looks.. Either way, it's a stylish kit, so if you're looking to pair it with something that has a strong grip and good shoulder/arm articulation, it's a solid recommendation as a weapon accessory. :-)
