Diver Gear

Kit Review

Straight build + Stickers

This kit is the Diver Gear — Gunpla Display Base, released as a Build Custom. True to its name, it's a stand kit designed to be used alongside Build Divers kits.

It's a completely different kind of stand compared to the existing Action Base 2 for 1/144 scale. The standout feature is the height adjustment section in the middle of the support arm, which uses a detachable, fixed-position system. It's a bit of a hassle since you have to pop the middle piece in and out to adjust the height, but once it's locked in, the angle holds perfectly. The old Action Base 2 is also a fixed-type so it holds its angle reasonably well, but handling both in person, the Diver Gear feels noticeably more solid.

The base looks great too — there's a large clear part on the bottom with a pattern cut out from the manual placed underneath it. But more than anything, it comes with a generous amount of joint parts and connection parts, so there's plenty of flexibility for different angles, arrangements, and kit combinations.

You can also detach the support arm and use it separately, and with the additional support arm included, you can display up to three structures at once. Taking the HG Gundam AGE-II Magnum as an example, you can hold the two F Panels separately in their out-of-box state.

This is the most evolved stand released so far — and while it does feel like it's made specifically for Build Divers, I'd say it's more than worth recommending to anyone looking to use it with other 1/144 scale kits as well. It's a high-quality stand all around :-)
