Gundam Jiyan Altron

Kit Review

Straight build + Stickers

Gundam Jiyan Altron has been released as the 11th Build Divers HG kit. True to its name, it's a variation based on the Altron from Gundam W — and since an HGAW Altron has never actually been released, this is essentially an original kit. Looking at the markings on the runners, it's labeled simply as "Altron," so it seems likely that a standard original Altron release will follow down the line.

Compared to the original Altron design, the biggest distinguishing features are the wolf-shaped (left) and tiger-shaped (right) shoulder units and the Twin Jiyan Hangs. On top of that, Jiyan Breakers have been added to the knees, and a shield and wings are mounted on the backpack via sub-arms — it's basically a twisted take on the classic Altron.

The Twin Jiyan Hangs have a folding gimmick built inside, allowing them to be deployed, and they can also be detached from the shoulders and fitted with separate handles to be held in the hands. They can be used as weapons with the fun names Wolf Fist and Tiger Fist respectively.

In terms of articulation, it delivers a decent level of mobility and joint strength. There aren't any parts that flop around badly, so holding poses isn't a major issue — but the limb joints have a slightly wobbly feel to them, so it doesn't quite come across as rock-solid. Still, it's a relief that the elongated Twin Jiyan Hangs and the sub-arms on the back hold their positions firmly.

It's a kit with unique MSV-style weaponry and solid-enough articulation, and I'd say it's worth recommending for Build Divers fans or anyone who has a soft spot for Wing Gundam. :-)
