GBN-Base Gundam

Kit Review

Straight build + Stickers

The GBN-Base Gundam has been released as part of the Build Divers HG lineup. The basic design concept draws from the RX-78 First Gundam, but it feels like a modern remodel of that classic. It's grown a bit larger and slimmer, with proportions that almost come across as feminine — so that's something people will either love or not, depending on their taste.

It's got that familiar First Gundam look, but the molded colors have this subtly translucent pastel feel that makes it look surprisingly fresh. On top of that, the articulation is some of the best I've seen. The HGUC First Gundam Revive already had great articulation, but the GBN-Base Gundam manages to feel even more dynamic despite having a similar range of motion. You can bend it pretty much however you want, and the joints hold their position well, making it a really fun kit to pose. As for weapons, you get two different beam rifles, each provided in duplicate — which is a bit unusual — along with a standard First Gundam-style shield and beam saber.

All in all, it's a kit that takes the familiar First Gundam look and freshens it up, with clean, flawless quality to boot. It's a fun Gunpla that I'd recommend to any Gunpla fan. :-)
