This is the HG Nu-Zeon Gundam released as part of the Build Divers Re:Rise series. True to its name, it's based on the HGUC Nu Gundam, with more than half of the parts being newly tooled. Slapping Zeon onto the Nu Gundam and basing the concept around that iconic red color scheme... it's definitely a hybrid that's going to split opinions.
The main body makes full use of the HGUC Nu Gundam's framework as you'd expect, giving it a solid, straightforward build with decent articulation and joint strength. The biggest changes beyond the molded colors are the newly arranged panels and the massive Zeonic Sword. The panels are grouped in sets of three to form four Terrible Panels, and the Zeonic Sword is reminiscent of the large sword from the Gundam Astray Second L. The gimmicks are similar too — you can fold and bend it in various ways, or attach the large beam parts to convert it into Hi-Mega Saber or Hi-Mega Bowgun form.
As for other weapons, two combat knives are stored in the backpack, and a small stand is included to prop up the oversized Zeonic Sword. The Terrible Panels on the back can move forward, backward, up, and down to a reasonable degree, and can also be displayed in a detached, launched configuration. Joint strength and durability are solid — no real issues there, as expected from the HGUC Nu Gundam — but with the heavier load on its back, you'll need to pay a bit of attention to the center of gravity when displaying it on a flat surface.
All in all, this is a pretty inventive hybrid of a kit, and if you're into big swords or the overall style appeals to you, it's definitely worth having some fun with. :-)
