Core Gundam (G-3 Color) & Veetwo Unit

Kit Review

Straight build + Stickers

This kit is the HG Core Gundam (G-3 Color) & Veetwo Unit released as part of the Build Divers Re:Rise series. The configuration is the same as the Earthree Gundam — same concept of dressing up the Core Gundam in Venus armor. Following the series' unique naming convention of combining a planet's order number and name in English, this time it's the second (Two) planet in the solar system, Venus, giving us the name "Veetwo." Interestingly, in Japanese it's actually being called "Veetoru Gundam" — basically like "Beetle Gundam." And while you'd think it could just be called the Veetwo Gundam like the Earthree Gundam, the official name ended up being this unnecessarily long thing about the Core Gundam being changed to G-3 colors with the Veetwo Unit armor added on.

The naming sense is a bit head-scratching in a lot of ways, but regardless, it shares the same configuration and inner frame as the HG Earthree Gundam. That said, the molded colors have been changed and the head antenna, backpack armor, shoulders/forearms, and legs/feet are all different, so it does feel quite distinct. Of course, the excellent articulation, solid joint strength, the ability to configure the Venus Armor as a flight vehicle, and the combine/separate gimmick with the Core Gundam are all the same. One thing to note — the revised shin armor has one open gimmick added to it.

It's still a satisfying HG kit with consistently solid quality, and even as a variation it has its own personality. However, in this kit's case, the Veetwo Weapons — which are essentially its signature armaments — are sold separately, so the kit feels a bit bare with just the weapons included in the box. If you can, it's definitely a better kit when built together with the Veetwo Weapons. :-)
