Beargguy III [SAN]

Kit Review

Straight build + Stickers

The biggest anticipated release of late 2013 was without a doubt the MG Sazabi Ver.Ka, but there was another hidden gem right alongside it — the HG Beargguy III. With colors and a design that take the original Beargguy's cuteness to the absolute max, it comes out sporting a proper big round bear head (lol) and a coral pink ribbon.

First off, the yellow molded color comes in three tones and looks absolutely gorgeous. Combined with the soft coral pink ribbon — a mix of orange and pink — the overall color scheme is just stunning. And with that big, round bear head on top, how could it possibly not be cute~ On top of that, the adorable bear ears can move back and forth, so you can even express emotions through the ears.

The real highlight of Beargguy III is the whopping 10 different eye stickers. Swapping them in and out is a bit fiddly, but as you can see in the review photos, you can mix and match all sorts of different expressions and poses. You can also pull off a new kind of action pose by plugging beam sabers into the mouth and hands, making this a kit that's just a ton of fun to play around with.

As a bonus, a joint gimmick is included that lets you swap in backpacks from HG kits — but honestly, it doesn't really feel like it suits the adorable Beargguy III all that well. ^^; Feels a bit like an unnecessary extra, to be honest.

The original Beargguy already had a pretty cute image, but with Beargguy III it feels like Bandai went all-in with the mindset of "it can't get any cuter than this!" Since it's a unit that throws lore out the window anyway, I guess they figured they could just go wild with the cuteness. Either way, this is an incredibly adorable kit — whether as a gift for the ladies or as a little treat for yourself as a dedicated fan, it'd make for a fun year-end present. :-)
