Wing Gundam Fenice

Kit Review

Straight build + Stickers

The sixth Build Fighters kit is the Wing Gundam Fenice, a customized version of the Wing Gundam. (The spelling is "Fenice," so it can be a bit tricky to pronounce if you're not careful;)

Uniquely, it features an asymmetrical left/right design — the shoulders and knees are shaped differently on each side, and the head antenna and ears on the right side have a battle-damaged look to them. Also, the wings that were originally spread symmetrically on both sides are now gathered to the right, and the empty space on the left is where the Buster Rifle mounts.

Since the base body quality of the HGAC Wing Gundam is already very clean, the overall build quality here is excellent as well, and the smooth articulation and solid joint strength make it really fun to handle. The bottom section of the original Buster Rifle has been replaced with a detachable beam rifle, and a spear-shaped beam saber handle has been added to the left forearm. The clear-material cape shield on the left shoulder is a pretty unique accessory touch too.

As a customized version of the original Gundam, this kit is noteworthy for bringing a lot of creative imagination to life. Even if the base kit has its limitations, it's just fun to handle, and I think any Gunpla fan would enjoy building this one. :-)
