Compared to the existing HG Exia Dark Matter, only the head and toe designs are different — the body is 95% identical, just with different molded colors. The sword and shield-type weapons have been redesigned though, now renamed the Amazing GN Sword, Amazing GN Shield, and Amazing GN Blade. They're called new designs, but it doesn't feel like a huge change — more like parts here and there have been remodeled. One neat addition is that the Amazing GN Shield now has a gimmick where both side wings can open up.

It's a great kit for striking all kinds of poses thanks to the generous accessories and flashy weapons, but with so much stuff hanging off it, actually getting a clean pose locked in is easier said than done. The articulation is good and the joint strength is fine, but all those bits and pieces attached to the sides, forearms, and back have a habit of falling off whenever you try to pose it.. T_T As a reviewer who takes a ton of photos, kits like this are honestly the most frustrating ;;

That said, once you do get a pose set, it holds pretty well, so there's that. Anyway, even if it is a color variant kit, the styling feels a lot cleaner than the dark red Exia. If you weren't a fan of the Exia Dark Matter's color scheme, or if you've always had a soft spot for the original Exia, this seems like a kit you can enjoy for a nice, satisfying build. :-)
