Gundam Ez-SR

Kit Review

Straight build + Stickers

This is the Build Fighters HG Gundam Ez-SR kit, based on the HGUC Gundam Ez8. It can basically be configured into 3 different types, and maybe because of that, the parts are pretty complex — it's the kind of kit that can get a bit confusing to build in various ways.

First up, the Ez-SR1 Intruder type comes equipped with a booster pack, a horned head, bulky shoulders, and a short-barreled rifle. Since it's based on the HGUC Ez8 which already has solid articulation and part retention, posing it is actually pretty fun. That said, unlike the Ez8, the feet are smaller — almost dainty — so the ground contact isn't great, and the electromagnetic knuckle on the forearm tends to fall off pretty easily, whether it's a weak hold or not.

The second type, the Ez-SR2 Eliminator, sports a GM-style head and is armed with a 180mm cannon and missile launcher, giving it a very ground-combat feel. Since the right knee is swapped out for a support stand, it fits perfectly when you put it in a kneeling firing pose. ^^

The last one, the Ez-SR3 Shadow Phantom, is an electronic warfare unit equipped with a radome-style backpack. It gets a uniquely designed head along with shoulders fitted with wings and missiles. The radome on the back can actually be flipped forward and combined with the rear of the head, turning it into this massive, round radar head — kind of like an I-Sack — which is a really fun gimmick. ^^

By the way, a radome (Radome) refers to an antenna cover made from non-metallic material (usually a type of reinforced plastic) that allows radio waves to pass through, with a radar antenna housed inside. The radome serves to protect the complex metallic antenna and reduce aerodynamic drag. And quite a few people mistakenly say "레이더" (raydeo) but the correct term is actually "레이다" (rayda)(Radar). ^^ (For reference, radar is my field of study...)

Anyway, it is a kit that lets you have fun building 3 distinct types with their own personalities... though it does kind of feel like it's saying "Buy all 3!"  ^^;; If you like the style or are a fan of the Ez8 look, I think it's definitely a kit worth building and enjoying. :-)
