Kit Review
Straight build + Stickers
The shield on the back can be detached and held in the hand with a separate handle,
but the back-of-hand parts don't hold together well, making it really frustrating to get it to stay in the hand.

The HG Hyper Gyanko has been released as the latest Build Fighters Girls kit. The basic setup is the same as the previous Chinagguy, with two eye parts options — one using a clear eye cover and one without.
First off, it's noticeably taller than a standard HG, coming close to MG size. It feels bulkier than Fumina and Chinagguy, which makes it look even more imposing by comparison. The voluminous body and thick thighs add to that impression, though the proportions are probably going to be a love-it-or-hate-it thing. It's got a full-figured look, but rather than emphasizing femininity, it gives off more of an athletic, sporty vibe.
As for the face sculpt — it's at least prettier than Fumina, though not quite as cute as Chinagguy. It has that slightly mischievous smile that's characteristic of Gyanko. This too will probably divide opinions, and personally, this kind of look isn't really my thing. ^^;
Arm and leg articulation is pretty good overall, but the skirt parts fall off way too easily when you move the legs, which gets really annoying. The feet are small, so posing on a flat surface is tricky anyway — you're better off using the included stand to get decent poses.
You can also detach the large Gyan shield from the back and have the kit hold it in hand, but the back-of-hand parts don't hold on well, making it oddly difficult to pull off. Even after trying multiple times with a bit of glue on the hand parts, the shield handle just doesn't lock in at a good angle and the hand keeps falling apart — it's practically a design flaw. Looks like they may have been rushing development and didn't have time to revise the mold. It's a surprisingly sloppy point for Bandai.
On the plus side, the sub-arm on the back — designed for the Build Custom Battle Arm Arms — is really well done. It lets you position the large shield freely, and it holds firmly at whatever angle you set it. Honestly, you're probably better off just leaving the shield mounted on the back rather than trying to have the kit hold it.
It seems like Bandai has been eyeing the success of Kotobukiya's Frame Arms Girl series with some envy, rolling out their own girlplas one after another. But somehow the appeal as a female character feels a bit ambiguous, and the overall finish feels a step below other Gunpla. This Gyanko in particular has terrible retention on both the shield handle and the skirt parts, so I'd steer clear if you're someone who's sensitive about parts staying in place.
That said, the actual building experience is much smoother and more satisfying than the Frame Arms Girl series, so if the style suits your taste, it's still worth building at least once — even accounting for the loose parts here and there. :-)
