Lah Gundam

Kit Review

Straight build

This kit is the EG (Entry Grade) Lah Gundam released as part of the Gundam Build Metaverse series. In the original work, it appears as a Gunpla modified from the EG First Gundam, and this kit likewise consists of the EG First Gundam with one new runner added. So the basic structural features and articulation are all on par with the EG First.

The added runner is just one sheet, but the main body actually feels noticeably different thanks to changes to the head, shoulders, front skirt, and knees. On the weapons side, the beam rifle's scope has been updated, and you get a newly sculpted La Shield and Beam La Naginata. Everything else in terms of articulation is identical to the EG First, so it delivers that same impressively flexible range of motion — though it's a slight shame that the front skirt redesign has reduced how high the hip joint can swing up.

As a bonus, the original EG First backpack and scope are included as well, so you can swap them on however you like. True to the EG line, small gates are used throughout, making cleanup easy, and the kit goes together quickly and simply while still delivering a great straight build look.

So the first kit from Build Metaverse ended up launching as an EG rather than an HG — and it works really well as a variation kit built on the already hugely popular EG First. At ¥1,000 it's quite affordable for what you get, so if the design appeals to you, this seems like a great kit to just pick up and enjoy. :-)
