Hyaku-Shiki GPB Color "Byaku-Shiki"

Kit Review

Straight build

This was released in 2010 as a Bandai Hobby Online Shop exclusive — it's the white Hyaku-Shiki that appears in Gunpla Builders. It's essentially the existing HGUC Hyaku-Shiki with only the molded color changed. The white parts use gloss injection, so they've got a nice sheen to them. Structurally nothing has changed, but what I find really fun is that they swapped the kanji on the shoulder from 百 (meaning "hundred") to 白 (meaning "white") to match the new white color scheme. ^^

The HGUC Hyaku-Shiki is an early release, so by today's standards it falls short in quite a few areas quality-wise — but it still pulls off a solid, well-balanced proportion with a neat and tidy look to it.

Aside from the molded color, there's not a whole lot new to look at here. Maybe they felt it was a bit too niche to release as a regular retail kit, which is why it ended up as a limited edition — but honestly, I think it would've done pretty well even as a standard release. :-)
