Club G HGUC

Jegan Type-D (Camouflage Ver.)

Kit Review

Straight build + Waterslide decals

This kit is the HGUC Jegan Type-D (Camouflage Ver.) released as a Club G (Premium Bandai) online exclusive. It's based on the HGUC Jegan Type-Dwith a changed molded color and camouflage waterslide decals added. As a bonus, one Marasai beam rifle is also included.

The kit's structure is completely identical to the original Jegan Type-D, and it's a standard HGUC kit with solid articulation and joint strength as before. Slapping on the camouflage decals does give it a noticeably different look, but the quality of the camouflage waterslide decals is just so-so, and the application difficulty was higher than expected. In my case, the straight build only took an hour, but the decals alone took around 5 hours -_-

There are a lot of curved surfaces and plenty of spots where you have to apply decals over awkward panel lines, so beginners will have an even harder time. Honestly, I found myself thinking it'd be way faster and more effective to just use masking tape and spray paint instead. In short, Bandai's camouflage decals feel like something no sane person should have to deal with -_- Bandai makes great kits, but their waterslide decals tear way too easily, the adhesion isn't great, and the film is fragile — they're a bit lacking compared to third-party or aftermarket decals. Anyway, aside from the camouflage waterslide decals, this is pretty much just a color variant kit with nothing much going for it, and with the decal difficulty being what it is, it's hard to recommend wholeheartedly. :-)
