Chinyagguy

Kit Review

Straight build + Stickers

This kit is the HG Chinyagguy, released as a Club G (Premium Bandai) online exclusive. It's a character from Gundam Build Fighters, HG Chinagguyand is essentially the Chinagguy reworked into a cat form. The head mask and hands have been changed to cat-shaped ones, the boots swapped out for regular shoes, the pants replaced with a skirt, and a cat tail has been added. (For what it's worth, the original pronunciation seems to be closer to "Chinyagguy," but since the concept is all about cats — "nyang" being the Japanese/Korean cat sound — it's been going around domestically under the product name Chinyagguy.)

The look has been nicely transitioned from the Beargguy-based bear mask to a cat mask, and it really captures that distinct cat charm that sets it apart from the bear. The body structure is identical to the Chinagguy, and it similarly comes with 2 headbands and glasses options. The articulation and joint strength are on par as well — though the large ribbon on the back still has that same poor attachment issue where it tends to fall off easily.

One thing to watch out for: the cute cat paws can break pretty easily. The white ball joints are made of a soft material, but the articulated parts are extremely stiff, so the ball joint can just snap right off during posing (yes, that happened to me T_T). Before attaching them, it's worth sanding the ball down a little — or once they're on, just don't try to pose them if you value your sanity.

With all the changes to the head, sleeves, hands, skirt, shoes, and tail, she's been reborn as a whole new cat girl. She's at least a fair bit cuter than the Fumina series, in my opinion. Personally, I think she turned out even better than the original Chinagguy, and if you're a fan of cat characters, this is definitely a kit worth building. :-)
