Gundam TR-6 [Haze'n-thley II Rah]

Kit Review

Straight build + Stickers

This kit is the HGUC Gundam TR-6 [Haze'n-thley II Rah], released as a Club G (Premium Bandai) online exclusive. It takes the previously released blue field deployment color Haze'n-thley II, recolors it in white test colors, and bundles it with the HGUC Hrududu II to recreate the "Rah" configuration. On top of that, a new head and front booster pod have been newly added.

So the core structure is the same as the existing Haze'n-thley II, and while the articulation is pretty limited, the large and stylish design means it looks great just standing there. With the Hrududu II added to both shoulders, the sheer volume is impressive. Also, in MS mode, the shin gimmick plugs in one step lower compared to the regular Haze'n-thley II, making it about 5mm taller. The legs got longer, but the stand height is the same as the original Haze'n-thley II, so it ends up standing with its legs spread wide. (See the comparison photos above.)

Now that the Haze'n-thley II Rah has been released as a standalone kit, the head parts have been changed from the elongated chin design to a standard Gundam-style face, and the front booster pod is now provided in a much smaller form. When attaching the Hrududu II to the Haze'n-thley II, you had to borrow the Hazel II's front booster pod, which was so oversized it looked a bit unbalanced. So with this kit, a new, compact booster pod has been added as a new sculpt to address that issue.

The split transformation into G Top Fighter and G Bottom Fighter follows the same process as the existing Haze'n-thley II, and the Hrududu II is only added in MA mode. With the booster pod now smaller, it can also be mounted on the underside in MA mode, allowing you to fully recreate the Haze'n-thley II Rah's MA mode. The Hazel II's booster pod that was used when building the "Rah" configuration from the original Haze'n-thley II was simply too large to attach in MA mode.

With its massive box, a price of ¥5900 that puts it up there with higher-end MGs, and sheer bulk that makes most MGs look tiny, this is truly the ultimate kit in the HGUC AOZ lineup. Sure, the articulation is stiff, but the joint strength and stability are solid enough that it's no problem for display purposes. The transformation is complex enough that you won't want to do it repeatedly (-_-), but it's still impressively intricate. It's definitely a love-it-or-hate-it design with a strong personality, but if you're into big, charismatic kits, this one is hard to beat. :-)
