Club G HGUC

Cruiser Mode Booster Expansion Set

Kit Review

Straight build + Stickers

This kit is the HGUC Cruiser Mode Booster Expansion Set, released as a Club G (Premium Bandai) online exclusive. The large booster itself is taken straight from the 2003 HGUC Gaplant release with just the molded color changed. Various newly sculpted joint parts have been added to allow it to connect with the AOZ kits.

The white test color booster is intended for use with the HGUC Hazel Owsla II Ra, and can be attached in both MS form and MA form. In both cases, you need to remove the rear booster pod and attach it in that spot, and since stands of different heights are provided for each form, you can get a nice stable display either way.

That said, the small stand meant to support the underside of the booster's rear doesn't connect very well — it tends to pop off with even the slightest movement. Honestly, the two wings on the lower rear of the booster do a pretty solid job of supporting it on their own, so at least when displaying in MS form, you could probably just skip the rear stand altogether. Also, this kit was released simultaneously in both the white test color and blue deployment color, which means each version ends up with leftover parts that aren't needed for its own color scheme.

The HGUC Hazel Owsla II Ra was already a big, impressive kit, and adding this massive booster on top cranks up the volume and visual impact even further. Even just standing there without any particular pose, it commands an incredible presence. It's essentially a volume-up parts set without any real functional purpose, but if you can handle the display space it demands, it makes for a pretty awesome addition. :-)
