This kit is the HG Beguir-Beu Torche, released as a Club G (Premium Bandai) online exclusive. It's the mobile suit from the official spin-off manga "Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury - Vanadis Heart," and is based on the standard release HG Beguir-BeuOnly 2 runners are reused from the original kit — the majority of runners are all-new tooling.
The torso and basic frame are carried over from the original HG Beguir-Beu, but the silhouette has changed dramatically with all the extra armor and weaponry bulking up the body. The great articulation and joint strength are retained as well, though the joints do feel tuned to be just a touch smoother compared to the Beguir-Beu.
The most eye-catching feature has to be the massive armor pieces called "greaves" mounted on the front of the legs. They can be deployed forward using multi-jointed arms, and once you extend the hidden claws as well, you can pull off some seriously imposing poses. The large hover unit on the back also has deployment and up-down articulation gimmicks that let you position it in a variety of ways, and the non-kinetic pods mounted on top have their own deployment gimmick too.
As a bonus gimmick, you can build two different head variants — the Kenancy platoon unit with long ears, or the Lideriq platoon unit with short ears. The catch is that there's only one D1 part for the lower section, so you have to (annoyingly) swap it back and forth. Would've been nice if they'd just thrown in two of them.
All in all, this is a well-done kit that shows off proportions and unique gimmicks that are a big step up from the original. It delivers noticeably higher value and quality than the base kit. It's really more of an original design than a simple variant, so if the look appeals to you, don't hesitate — just go for it. :-)
