Kit Review

Straight build + Stickers

This kit is the HG Zaku Ⅱ F Type Lesean & Zaku Ⅱ (Unidentified Type) Lesean (RFV), released as a Club G (Premium Bandai) online exclusive. HG Zaku II F Type Solariis used as the base, with molded color changes and new sculpts added, bundled together as a two-kit set. It includes the two Zakus piloted by Lesean, a character from the show.

First up, the Zaku II F Type Lesean (RFV) has been switched to a mass-production color scheme, and the head antenna has been changed to a single type. Everything else in terms of sculpt is the same as the Solari unit, and it still shows off that flashy over-detailing along with stiff articulation. The Unidentified Type is the unit from the latter half of the show — a hastily cobbled-together machine built from locally sourced Zaku parts. The main body has been remolded in a light blue color, and the right-side shield has been swapped out for a new, smaller-sized part.

The Unidentified Type has sections where you need to cut the included metal chain into individual pieces and glue them on, then attach log parts on top — and the difficulty level is absolutely brutal T_T You have to cut it into 41 pieces total and super-glue them onto the shoulders, front skirt, shins, and other spots. For starters, cutting metal chain is no easy task, and the pieces are so tiny and thin that they just won't stay in place. You often end up cutting them down to just a few millimeters, but a cutter won't slice through easily, and using nippers makes it hard to gauge the length. On top of that, they're so thin that even with tweezers and super glue, getting them to stick cleanly without leaving marks is a real struggle.

Personally, I thought I had some experience with small etched parts from my old military model days — but the metal chain on this kit is on a whole other level. Just gluing down those 41 chain pieces took me about 3 hours of sweating through it, and I was under some serious stress the whole time. They're so tiny, thin, and floppy that securing and gluing them is genuinely maddening. I pushed through on pure reviewer stubbornness and dug deep for every last bit of patience I had to get them all on... but honestly, unless you're confident with military-style painting or kitbashing, I'd strongly recommend skipping the chain work for the sake of your sanity.

Beyond the main body, two newly sculpted Zaku Bazookas and a large shield have been added as new inclusions. The outer face of the large shield — used for the Unidentified Type — can be decorated by gluing on Magellaattack tank tread parts.

All in all, this package lets you build both of Lesean's mass-production Zaku variants from the show in a single kit. Aside from the seriously stiff joints, it delivers solid looks and quality overall. If you enjoyed Requiem for Vengeance or just love the flashy aesthetic, this is definitely worth recommending — just be warned that the metal chain work on the Unidentified Type requires a fair amount of skill, so think twice before diving in :-)
