Club G MG

Powered GM

Kit Review

Straight build + Stickers

This is the MG Powered GM, released as a Club G (Premium Bandai) online exclusive. As you'd expect from a mobile suit that appears in 0083, it's based on the MG GM Kai — and the Powered GM's signature bulky upper body and large backpack are nicely reproduced.

Since the MG GM Kai came out in 2002 and is considered one of the older MG kits, this one also has a pretty old-school feel overall. The general arm and leg articulation isn't bad, but the outdated ball-joint hip construction and somewhat limited ankle range of motion do restrict posing. Other Club G GM variations are based on the MG GM 2.0 or GM Sniper II, so they show off excellent articulation — which makes this one feel comparatively a bit lacking, and there's not much you can do about that.

Setting aside the dated parts construction, the overall proportions and finish quality feel pretty solid. A lot of areas — the chest, backpack, front/rear skirts, knees, calves, and ankle armor — have been newly sculpted to match the design specs. A bazooka from the MG Mk-II 2.0 was also added as a weapon, and three extra runners were included just for that bazooka — though most of the parts on those runners end up as leftover parts, which is a pretty spectacular waste of plastic.

So while the joint construction does feel a bit dated, this kit is worthwhile simply for delivering the Powered GM's distinctive look cleanly in MG form. At ¥3000 it's on the affordable side, so if you're a fan of the Powered GM, this is definitely one to grab without hesitation. :-)
