G Parts [Hrududu]

Kit Review

Straight build + stickers/wet decals

This kit is the MG G Parts [Hrududu], released as a Club G (Premium Bandai) online exclusive. There was a 1/144 Hrududu released as a magazine supplement back in the day, but this is the first time we've gotten a 1/100 version. True to MG standards, it comes with a solid, chunky build along with clean color separation and gimmicks.

On either side of the G Parts [Hrududu] are thruster wing units and claw wing units. The claw wings can be deployed in two stages, and you can plug in beam saber parts borrowed from another kit. Outside of these claw wings, there aren't really any other special gimmicks — the main purpose of this kit is combining with other kits, along with the various joint parts included for that.

Since the G Parts [Hrududu] is a flying craft, a new-style black Action Base is included for aerial display. Given the nature of the G Parts [Hrududu], there's a good chance you'll end up buying multiple copies, so having an Action Base packed into every single kit feels like a bit much (wish they'd left it out and dropped the price a bit...). The two-unit combination gimmick unique to the G Parts [Hrududu] is also included — it looks pretty cool in its own right, but it kind of feels like a setup designed to make you buy two of them. (And yes, I ended up buying two for the review. -_-)

The real highlight of the G Parts [Hrududu] is ultimately not the unit itself, but Hazel Ra — the combined form with the MG Hazel Kai. Through a relatively straightforward combination process you can recreate the high-speed flight configuration of Hazel Ra, and since the center of gravity shifts heavily toward the rear, the Action Base comes in handy as a support. As expected, Hazel Ra takes up a considerable amount of display space, but it looks absolutely stunning for it. ^^ The connection between the Hazel Kai and the G Parts [Hrududu] is solid enough that there are no major issues, but it's a bit of a shame that the kit is too heavy to easily pose in the air on a stand.

Anyway, if you're looking to build Hazel Ra alongside the MG Hazel Kai, this is an essential kit — and as they say, all Aoz Lego-building adventures start with the G Parts [Hrududu]. :-)
