Club G MG

Hazel Owsla

Kit Review

Straight build + stickers/waterslide decals

This is the MG Gundam TR-1 [Hazel Owsla], released as a Club G (Premium Bandai) online exclusive. It's based on the simultaneously released MG Primrose, bundled together with all the parts needed for the Hazel Owsla from the MG Hazel Kai, Advanced Hazel, Hazel Unit 2, and Hrududu. The parts and molded colors are 100% identical to buying them separately — there are absolutely no bonus items or changes exclusive to this bundle. So for information on the MG Primrose itself and the Hazel Owsla's configuration, please refer to the MG Primrose review— and for this review, just use it as a reference for the completed MG Hazel Owsla's detailed visuals and posing.

First off, this kit is just bursting with appeal thanks to its sheer size and bulk — the molding is sharp and the volume is massive, as you'd expect from an MG. Overall parts fit is solid, but with all that extra armament added on, the hip and ankle joints feel just a little bit shaky. It's not like it'll topple over easily, but posing it freestanding on a surface does feel a bit nerve-wracking.

The design is so complex that pulling off a wide variety of poses is tough, but on the flip side, even a simple pose makes it look incredibly imposing. The two-piece stand included with the MG Primrose is also in the box, so you can pull off aerial poses with the winch cannon deployed and all that.

The biggest appeal of this kit is that you can build the Hazel Owsla — which would otherwise cost a whopping ¥19,200 if you bought all the kits separately — for just ¥8,000. It's still not exactly cheap, but at least for the Hazel Owsla specifically, it feels like a pretty reasonable package at a justifiable price. The slightly iffy durability is what it is, but as one of the ultimate forms in AOZ, the satisfaction and presence you get after completing it are absolutely top-notch. :-)
