This kit is the PG Unicorn Gundam Unit 3 Phenex, released as a Club G (Premium Bandai) online exclusive. It's based on the standard-release PG Unicorn Gundamwith gold plating applied, plus two Armed Armor DEs and new sculpted parts added. The Phenex's distinctive head antenna area and the Armed Armor DE connection parts are all newly added.

Compared to the MG Phenex, this one gets a slightly deeper yet brighter gold coating, and it came out at ¥40,000 — double the price. The coating quality is great and the reflections are bright, and the sheer size of the kit makes it feel even more spectacular. That said, the reflections from the lighting are so intense that the contrast makes the review photos look a bit dark — just keep in mind that in person it looks much brighter and more stunning.

Structurally it's the same as the existing PG Unicorn Gundam, aside from the Armed Armor DEs mounted on both sides of the backpack and the more elaborate head antenna. It still delivers excellent articulation and joint strength, and you can pull off a more stable Destroy Mode compared to other grades. On top of that, adding the separately sold LED unit gives you a dazzling amount of light output, showing off the blue frame color. When you combine the gorgeous gold plating with the LED unit, it genuinely feels like you're looking at the ultimate in premium visuals.

So yeah, this turned out to be a big, beautiful plated kit done right. There were some coating defect issues with certain reprints (aside from the first run, which had good quality), but replacements were available through customer service. (For reference, the kit used in this review is a first-run copy.) So when buying, it's worth checking whether there are any spots where the coating is peeling or wasn't applied properly. Either way, it takes up a lot of space, but as far as big and flashy Gunpla goes, this has to be one of the best ever made. :-)
