This is the 3rd Scopedog variation — the Red Shoulder Custom that appears in episode 10 of the series. Since this kit was designed from the start with easy reuse and variations in mind, it seems like new variations just keep rolling out effortlessly.

Basically 99% of the main body is identical to the existing Scopedog, with the differences being the left shoulder changed to red and the holes added on the sides for mounting weapons. The custom pack adds a rocket gun pod for the shoulder, a gatling gun and SMM for both sides, and a Solid Shooter for the left arm. On top of that, a ladder and a Vanilla figure are included to set up a diorama scene from the show.

As for the main body's quality, I covered it in detail in the previous Scopedog
reviewso feel free to refer to that, and the detail on the added weapons is overall decent and solid. The missile-type weapons are nicely reproduced with the missiles inside looking convincing, and the tips of the missiles even have separate red parts, which makes them look even better. The added ladder and figure are also at a reasonable level.

So the Red Shoulder Custom version feels like a much more loaded kit than the other Scopedogs thanks to all the extra options. That said, the 2,000 yen premium for the custom options feels a bit steep.. It'd be great at around 5,500 yen — seems like they valued the ladder and figure at about 500 yen or so..

There are probably a few more variations on the way, and the Turbo Custom release seems pretty likely. Beyond that, there's the Last Red Shoulder version, the Parachute version, the Round Mover version, and plenty of other reuse potential if they want to go there. Maybe that's exactly why it was released as its own standalone lineup rather than the RRR lineup — to keep the variations going? Personally, having now built four Scopedogs including the Metal Spec version, I'm starting to feel a little tired of it.. but the quality, finish, and overall package are excellent, so it's definitely a kit worth recommending to Votoms fans. ^_^
