The Eternal, another warship from Gundam SEED, has also gotten the EX treatment. Rather than a true warship, the Eternal is more of a dedicated transport and support vessel for the main MS Freedom and Justice Gundam. What makes it especially unique is that it carries two Meteors — exclusive to Freedom and Justice — mounted at the front.
First of all, as you can see, while it's not perfect, the molded colors are matched up for the key areas, so even a straight build has a decent look to it. The molded colors themselves are really nice too. Of course it follows the EX philosophy of painting as the baseline, but either way this looks like a kit worth building even without paint.
The overall detail is less sharp and intricate compared to previous kits like the Albion, Argama, and Archangel — it's a bit more straightforward, closer to a typical Gunpla feel. Maybe the color separation is what gives it that Gunpla-like quality? Compared to other EX warship kits, this one really does feel like you're building a "Gunpla."
The basics are all well covered — things like swapping in the missile hatch-open style ducts and recreating the catapult. What I especially like is how the Meteor docking and detachment is both easy and secure.
The real highlight of this kit is definitely the Meteors. Even though they're only slightly bigger than a coin, the detail is surprisingly good. The more you look at them, the more adorable and cute they are ^^ It's a little disappointing that the included 1/1700 Freedom and Justice can't actually combine with them, but you probably shouldn't expect too much at this tiny a scale, right? ^^;
Anyway.. personally I went into this EX without high expectations, but it turned out to be surprisingly fun to build — compact and packed with little details, so I came away pretty satisfied. Especially the 1/1700 Meteors — they're the best~! ^^b
