EX Model

Samson Trailer

Kit Review

Straight build

The Samson Trailer is out as an EX Model! The Samson Trailer is a Zeon transport vehicle and it's quite a sizable mech. So even though it's a 1/144 kit, it's about 25cm long — pretty substantial.

In terms of detail, it's not at the insanely precise level of the Magellan Attack style — it's more of a moderate level. Maybe a slight step up from the Gundam Trailer that came out as the first release? It just feels solid and straightforward. The top panel and cockpit area detail is pretty ordinary, but flip it over and the underside actually has some nice depth and texture to it ^^

Various features are also recreated, like the turret articulation, trailer separation, and cockpit detachment. The windows all around the cab are done in clear parts of course, and it's a nice touch that even those two tiny headlights up front are rendered in clear parts as well.

Above all, kits like this trailer.. their real appeal is how well they work alongside other kits. As long as the 1/144 scale matches, you can just plop whatever you want on it :-)

After so many EX kits with incredibly intense detail, a kit with more modest detail like this can feel a bit plain by comparison.. but it's actually easy and simple to build, with clean and tidy detail that somehow makes it grow on you. Like most EX kits, if it weren't for the somewhat steep ¥3000 price tag, this would be an easy recommendation — it's a charming little kit that's fun in its own way. ^^
