Dr. Slump Arale has been released as the 7th entry in the Figure-rise Mechanics line. This is personally one of my favorite nostalgic manga — right up there with Dragon Ball — and Arale is the girl robot created by Dr. Slump.
The overall package is similar to the previous Doraemon release, with an inner mechanical frame and the option to swap on a clear outer shell. The mechanical frame is based on the "X-ray illustration showing Arale's complete internal structure" that appeared in the original manga, and in frame mode you get a fun gimmick where the mouth's Uncha Cannon and the chest hatch can open.
The clear shell is applied to the body, parts of the limbs, and the hat area, so the effect is a bit less striking than Doraemon where the whole body looked transparent. That said, Arale's color scheme is much more vibrant, so visually she might actually end up looking even better.
Accessories include a waving left hand and a right hand holding an uncha (poop), letting you recreate scenes from the original manga. The hat and glasses are also removable. The hat is meant to be worn normally, but the fit between the hat and head isn't very snug, so it's more like just resting it on top.
For fans of Toriyama Akira and Dr. Slump, this is a fun item you really don't want to miss. Even without much articulation, it's a great kit that's well worth it as a display model :-)
