They skipped over Super Saiyan 2 in between, but since Super Saiyan 2 only differs slightly in hair color from Super Saiyan 1 in the lore, it seems like they just jumped straight to Super Saiyan 3.

Since Super Saiyan 3 is basically just Super Saiyan but with an insane amount of extra hair (...), this kit likewise comes with only the face and head swapped out from the existing Figure-rise Standard Super Saiyan Son Gokou. The body, limbs, effect parts, and hands are all identical to the previous release, so for this review you really only need to check out the new head. With the extra head parts, one additional runner has been added and the price has gone up by ¥200.

As you can see, the massive hair that's so characteristic of Super Saiyan 3 is rendered with a good number of parts that give it a solid sense of volume. I was worried the neck joint might not be able to hold up under such a big head, but after trying out various poses I'm happy to say it doesn't really get in the way at all ^^

Since the base body already had excellent articulation, this is still a great action figure kit. It feels like a meaningful color variant in the sense that Super Saiyan 3 Son Gokou — whose whole thing is that wild hair — has finally been made into a kit :-)
