Figurerise Standard

Kid Buu

Kit Review

Straight build + Stickers

Following Frieza and Cell, the final boss of Dragon Ball Z, Majin Buu [Pure] — also known as Kid Buu — has now been released as a Figure-rise Standard kit. As many of you know, Majin Buu comes in all sorts of forms, from chubby to skinny. The [Pure] form is essentially the base body after Buu has expelled all the characters he had absorbed, and is also commonly referred to as Kid Buu.

True to his small-fry character setting, this is a compact kit — slightly smaller than the previous Frieza release and about the same size as Gohan. The limb articulation is a bit limited at around 90 degrees due to the smaller size, which is a little disappointing, but the characteristic facial expression and proportions are well captured, so the poses still look pretty lively. Joint strength is also solid, so there are no issues with stability after posing.

Effect parts include a Kamehameha and Vanishing Ball in clear parts, and a clear stand is also included, so you can recreate a variety of poses from the original series.

Possibly thanks to the Dragon Ball Super anime, the Dragon Ball Figure-rise lineup just keeps on going. It's great to see these nostalgic characters keep coming out in such high quality — it really seems to be rekindling the passion of Dragon Ball fans after all this time. :-)
