Super Saiyan 4 Vegeta

Kit Review

Straight build + Stickers

Super Saiyan 4 Vegeta has been released alongside Super Saiyan 4 Goku from Dragon Ball GT. The overall package contents are identical to Goku's, and the unique upper body articulation gimmick appears to have been carried over as well.

Unlike Goku, however, Vegeta is making his first appearance as a kit, so this is an all-new runner release with no recycled parts whatsoever. The upper body runners may look similar to those of Super Saiyan 4 Goku, but look closely and you'll spot differences here and there due to design variations.

Like Super Saiyan 4 Goku, the upper body articulation is improved over previous kits, and the joint strength is decent enough. That said, the overall articulation does feel a bit more restrictive compared to Goku. The feet are larger than Goku's, but the ankle articulation is actually worse, so ground contact feels even less stable. Trying to hold a pose without a stand and keeping the center of gravity balanced is quite a challenge;;

On the plus side, instead of a Kamehameha, Vegeta comes with his signature Final Shine Attack effect parts, which give him a distinctly different visual flair. The Final Shine effect parts are larger and more imposing than the Kamehameha in just about every way.

The highlight of this kit has to be striking the fusion pose together with Super Saiyan 4 Goku. You can pull off a pretty faithful recreation of the scene from the original series, but actually getting the two fingertips to touch properly is harder than it sounds. (T_T) On top of that, both figures have poor foot contact with the ground, so the slightest shift in balance sends them toppling over — I think I spent a good 10 minutes struggling just to get the fusion shot. Still, once you finally nail the pose, it's a genuinely impressive sight.

Either way, this kit is significant as Vegeta's first-ever appearance in the Figurise lineup, and personally I'd love to see other versions of Vegeta released down the line. Given that the runners have system injection gates, that seems quite likely — but regardless, if you're a Dragon Ball GT fan, this is a great action figure kit to mess around with alongside Goku. :-)
