Figurerise Standard

Ultraman Zero

Kit Review

Straight build + Stickers

This is the Ultraman Zero released in the Figure-rise Standard line. First off, this kit is absolutely serious about color separation. All those small yellow holes running from the torso up to the shoulders are achieved through parts separation, and the blue and silver lines crossing the body are also mostly color-separated.

Thanks to the impressively intricate parts separation — almost to the point of feeling excessive — the assembly experience is quite different from other Figure-rise Standard kits. It feels like the way parts connect has been upgraded from 2D to 3D. That gives you a genuinely fresh building experience, with a top-tier feel where everything snaps together smoothly and holds firm. The previous release, Ultraman Trigger Multi Type, had a similar parts layout concept, but the heavy use of stickers was a bit of a letdown. Ultraman Zero is a step up in every way by comparison.

The limbs fold up completely, which is top-tier articulation you don't often see in the Figure-rise Standard line. The neck, waist, and ankles are all nice and flexible too, making this a kit that's easy and fun to pose. Joint strength feels plenty stable as well. One other quirky little detail — there's no stand hole at all, which is a bit unusual in its own way.

For weapons, you get two Zero Sluggers and one Zero Twin Sword. When using the Zero Sluggers, you can swap in a head part that shows them detached. You also get red and blue Zero Twin Shoots and a Color Timer, which can optionally be attached to the chest.

All in all, this is an exemplary action figure model kit that delivers top-level color separation and outstanding articulation. If you've always been a fan of Ultraman Zero, this is going to feel like an amazing gift. And even beyond that, it's a great kit to recommend to anyone who wants to build a high-quality action figure model. :-)
