Figurerise Standard

Kamen Rider Drive

Kit Review

Straight build + Stickers

This kit is Kamen Rider Drive Type Speed, released as part of the Figure-rise Standard series. Following Kamen Rider Wizard, Kamen Rider Drive aired in 2014, and the character is based on the motifs of a car and a detective.

All the exterior parts use new molds, but the same joint parts are reused, so the structural characteristics are similar to previous kits. It's a well-made kit with smooth assembly and excellent articulation/joint strength. That said, there are three types of stickers and the sheer volume of them is quite substantial — applying the stickers takes way longer than the actual assembly. On the plus side, they do a great job of recreating the design's intended colors.

The weapons included are the Handle Sword and Door Gun — true to their names, they're based directly on a car's steering wheel and door. The gimmick of removing the Shift Speed attached to the left arm and loading it into each weapon is also faithfully reproduced. On top of that, 5 hands and a clear display stand are included, making it easy to recreate a variety of scenes from the show.

Overall the build quality is great, though the sheer amount of stickers is a bit of a letdown. If you're a fan of Kamen Rider Drive or don't mind putting in the time with stickers, this is a high-quality Figure-rise kit well worth picking up. :-)
