Ultraman Geed Primitive

Kit Review

Straight build + Stickers

This kit is the Figure-rise Standard Ultraman Geed Primitive. It's the character from the 2017 series Ultraman Geed, and it comes with some of the most elaborate color separation we've seen in a long time.

To start with, the color scheme in the source material is incredibly complex — the silver, red, and black stripe combination is mostly achieved through parts separation, and notably, the front body armor even uses a system insert for the first time in a while, where multiple molded colors are formed together in a single part (a.k.a. multi-color single shot). On top of that, the three-color combination on the arms and legs is broken up into tiny individual parts, so the accurate colors can be reproduced with only a minimal number of stickers. Because the parts are split into such small pieces, assembly can be a bit tricky — but on the flip side, there's a satisfying and unique feel to putting it all together.

Articulation is generally average, and joint strength is decent. The shoulder joints feel a bit awkward to rotate due to the structure, but it's not too much of a problem for pulling off poses from the show. Accessories include a face and effect parts for the Recker Burst, and a Spacium Ray part that can be combined with the effect parts is also included. Thanks to all these effect parts, you can nicely recreate the iconic Recker Burst sequence in stages — from the charge-up to the firing pose.

So this kit's strengths are its impressive color separation and flashy effect parts. Assembly is a bit fiddly and the articulation is nothing special, but if you're a fan of the Ultraman series, this is definitely a kit worth having a good time building. :-)
