Kit Review
Straight build + Stickers
Straight build + Stickers
Trunks, the son of Vegeta and Bulma, has joined the Figure-rise Standard lineup in his Super Saiyan version. Since a normal-state head is also included, you can actually build both the normal version and the Super Saiyan version. (In English it'd be "Trunks," and going by the original Japanese it should be "Torankusu," but since he's been widely known as "Trunks" in the Korean version, I'll just go with that here.)
The kit's basic construction is the same as Goku's — the leg parts are even reused straight from Goku's runners as-is. That does bulk up the runner count and leaves quite a few leftover parts, but it's a sneaky way of recycling someone else's lower body, isn't it.
Appearance-wise, the color combination is a bit more complex compared to other characters, but a few stickers and solid color separation deliver an impressive straight-build look. The sword can actually be stored in the scabbard worn around the torso, and thanks to the excellent articulation, you can pull off a natural draw pose too.
Overall, the articulation and posing are subtly better than Goku's, and just in terms of how the poses feel, this is probably the best quality kit in the Figure-rise Standard lineup so far. On top of that, the effect parts are noticeably bigger and more upgraded than previous kits, so you can pull off some pretty convincing Masenko and Burning Attack scenes.
All in all, this is a buildable figure that excels in looks, feel of movement, and joint strength — it's a kit I'd highly recommend to any Dragon Ball fan. :-)
