Figurerise Standard

Paildramon

Kit Review

Straight build + Stickers

This kit is Paildramon, released as part of the Figure-rise Standard Amplified series. It's a character from Digimon, and its four large wings are its defining feature — just like some previous releases, the wings use premium PET sheet material.

The overall build style and feel is similar to previous Figure-rise Standard kits. The gloss injection black armor has a nice sheen to it, and despite being polycap-less, the joints are surprisingly smooth and sturdy. Limb articulation is a bit on the average side, but the vibrant colors and great volume mean even a simple pose gives off a really dynamic vibe.

There are no separate weapons, but you can swing the bio-cannons from the back around to the front and extend them into long-range mode. You can also combine the two bio-cannons together for a barrel merge configuration. Neither the long-range mode nor the barrel merge appeared in the original source material — they're original gimmicks added exclusively for this kit. On top of that, the spike launch using the wire is also recreated here.

True to the Amplified branding, this kit steps things up a notch beyond the original design and pulls it off really well. The straight build looks great and the durability is solid, so in terms of stability relative to its size, this is a kit I'd want to give full marks. The one issue is that the individually articulated finger segments tend to drop their white claw parts during posing. There are also a few spots that feel a bit stiff during assembly, but given how sturdy the overall build is, that's easy enough to forgive.

Either way, if you're a fan of the original Digimon series or the games, this is going to be a very welcome kit. It shows the best build quality compared to previous Digimon kits, so if you've had your eye on Paildramon, I'd say go for it without hesitation. :-)
