Kit Review

Straight build + Stickers
Legendary Super Saiyan Broly — the big bad villain from the Dragon Ball movie — has been released as a Figure-rise Standard kit. He's canonically enormous, and the kit lives up to that, absolutely dwarfing other Figure-rise Standard releases. That size does come at a cost though, with a price tag of ¥4,800, though the parts are just bigger rather than more numerous or more refined.
True to the Figure-rise Standard line, the kit does a clean job of bringing the character to life in three dimensions. Thanks to excellent color separation and subtle molded colors, it already looks great as a straight build. The articulation is nothing special, but that massive frame means even a simple pose carries a ton of presence.
With a big kit like this, joint strength is always a concern — and for the most part, poses hold up solidly once set. For some reason though, the connection pin between the shoulder and forearm is noticeably weak and tends to pop out during posing. On top of that, the skirt joints that open in all four directions are a bit flimsy and can come loose during posing, so that's something to watch out for.
As a bonus for recreating scenes from the movie, beaten-up face expressions for Goku and Vegeta are included, and they really nail that look of pure agony. Combine these with the separately sold Super Saiyan Goku/Vegeta kits and you can pull off some pretty vivid scene recreations. There's also a stand joint part included — and given the size, it's a 1/100 Action Base 1 pin. He's big and heavy, but the joint does its job well, holding him up in the air without any issues.
He's a pretty iconic villain, so even if you're not a die-hard fan, there's a good chance he caught your eye — and for Dragon Ball fans, this is a genuinely fun and impressive action figure model kit. :-)
