Figurerise Standard

Ultimate Son Gohan

Kit Review

Straight build + Stickers

This is the Ultimate Son Gohan released in the Figurerise Standard line. The base body is a straight reuse of the Son Gokou body that's been recycled countless times, so visually it's really only the head that's different. That said, you still get the same solid articulation and joint strength as before, letting you pull off all kinds of poses just like previous kits — and even the Kamehameha effect parts are identical to the old ones.

What sets this kit apart, though, is that Super Saiyan parts are included in the box. Usually the standard and Super Saiyan versions would come out as separate kits, but this time around they've included both so you can swap between them. The Super Saiyan parts cover quite a range — head, eyebrows/eyes, shoulder parts, collar, and feet — so it almost feels like you're building two kits in one.

That said, the swapping process is anything but simple — it's basically a full disassembly and reassembly of the parts each time. Doing it regularly would be a real hassle and risks breakage, so you're probably better off just picking one form and sticking with it. For a snap-fit kit (...), the parts grip way too well, and getting them apart without damage is no easy task. T_T If you really want both forms on display, you'll end up having to buy two kits. (At that point you're actually worse off than if they'd been sold separately, since you'd be paying for a bunch of duplicate parts... OTL)

Anyway, the base body is as tired as ever, but there's still something to be said for Ultimate Son Gohan coming out as a combined package with both the standard and Super Saiyan forms included. :-)
