This kit is the Figurise Standard release of Lacus Clyne, the heroine from Gundam SEED — a character who's been around for 19 years now. (Feels like I just watched Gundam SEED yesterday, but it's actually from 2002, the World Cup year... man, how time flies T_T)
The overall format is similar to other Figurise Standard girl kits, but a surprisingly large number of parts go into recreating her distinctive skirt and costume. You can remove the large outer skirt to put her in miniskirt mode, but with the full skirt on, leg articulation is very limited and there aren't many poses you can pull off. The hair is also split into four movable strands, but the range of motion is narrow and the mechanism is a bit fiddly. That said, the arms, waist, and neck do move, so you can still get a decent variety of poses — like clasping or spreading her hands, or having her hold the included Haro accessories.
For the faces, you get one with pre-printed eyes and eyebrows, two blank faces, and waterslide decals. Applying the eye and eyebrow decals to the blank faces isn't particularly difficult, but I imagine a lot of people will still find it a chore. Other kits in the line typically include multiple faces with different expressions already printed on them, but here you're required to do decal work if you want any expression other than the default. It feels like the service-mindedness is a little lacking on this one.
The smooth assembly and solid molded colors are unmistakably Bandai, but it does give you the feeling that cute girl kits aren't exactly their main specialty. They've done a decent job of translating the character into three dimensions, but as a girlpla it doesn't quite feel as pretty as it could. On top of that, there are some annoying little issues — like the wrist parts popping off too easily when swapping hands, and the skirt assembly being a bit fiddly.
All that said, this kit is significant simply for the fact that Lacus Clyne has finally been made into a plastic model, and if you're a Gundam SEED fan, it seems like a worthwhile build just for the nostalgia factor. :-)
