This kit is the Ultraman Trigger Multi Type released as part of the Figure-rise Standard series. Up until now we'd only been getting Netflix Ultraman kits in that Iron Man-esque style, but finally a classic Ultraman has made it into the lineup — and it's the Multi Type from Ultraman Trigger, the 2021 series, that gets to go first.
The overall body construction isn't all that different from other Figure-rise Standard kits. But true to a character with such a flashy color scheme, a high level of color separation has been applied all over the body. Some parts do rely on stickers to nail the colors, but the unique color separation on the torso, arms, and legs gives you a really satisfying build experience. On top of that, as an action figure model kit it delivers smooth movement, decent articulation, and solid joint strength.
Accessories include an effect part for the Zepellion Ray and the Circle Arms. The Zepellion Ray effect part locks in firmly between the hand and wrist, and the Circle Arms has the hands sculpted right onto it, so you can pose it without worrying about grip strength at all. The Color Timer on the chest can be swapped between two colors, and the bright gold sections on the torso are represented with premium-printed stickers. Also worth noting — unlike Kamen Rider kits, there's no display stand included, not even a joint part for one, which is a bit of a quirk in its own right.
One thing that's a bit disappointing is that the feet are quite small, so the ground contact isn't great. Since you have to pose it on a flat surface without a stand, you really need to balance the center of gravity carefully to keep it standing.
All in all, it's an action figure model kit that delivers a clean build experience and a great sense of quality. The real significance here is that we can now build classic Ultraman characters in the Figure-rise Standard series too — that's pretty exciting. :-)
