Gunpla Collection 1/288

Gunpla Collection Vol.1

Kit Review

Straight build

<Gunpla Collection General Notes>
The Gunpla Collection is a kind of gashapon model kit series released between 2006 and 2007, based on the concept of remodeling the old 1/144 kits down to 1/288 scale. As a result, the box art and proportions feel like a straight-up shrunken copy of the original 1/144 releases. Since these are gashapon, there's a double-box packaging — an outer box with the same artwork over the inner one — so you can't see what's inside until you tear open the outer box.

Each collection contains 9 to 10 different Gunpla kits in total, and buying one box gets you a complete set. The kits are molded in a single color as a baseline, but they show surprisingly decent volume and detail for their size. Unlike the old 1/144 kits, they snap together without any glue, which is a nice touch. Each kit also comes with a bonus Gundam card. :-)

Because of the small size, articulation is kept to a minimum — the arms and legs are solid single pieces. You could call this a gashapon model kit series that prioritizes easy assembly and cute charm over poseability.
-------------------

This kit is Gunpla Collection Vol.1. The complete box comes with 12 kits in total — since there are actually 10 different types, 2 of them are random duplicates.

1. RX-78 Gundam
2. Mass Production Zaku II
3. Gouf
4. Guncannon
5. Mass Production Z'Gok
6. MS Weapons Set
7. Gyan
8. Agguguy
9. Worker Zaku
10. Magella Attack

All of them snap together easily and offer simple articulation — and despite their small size, they pack in some surprisingly solid detail and proportions. A pretty fun little gashapon to put together when you've got some time to kill. :-)
