This kit is the HiRM (High Resolution Model) Wing Gundam Zero EW [Special Coating]. It's a special version of the previously released HiRM Wing Gundam Zero EWwith a coating applied, and as a bonus, a pearl-colored Action Base is also included.

Aside from the added Action Base, all the parts are identical to the standard release — the only difference is the coating on the outer armor. Overall it has a semi-gloss pearl coating in the style of Extra Finish, which gives it a distinctly different feel from the gloss injection sheen of the standard version. The gloss injection looked pretty nice and shiny in its own right, but the painted coating on the armor does give it a deeper, more premium look.

Everything else about the basic configuration and structural features is the same as the standard release, so for this review you can just sit back and enjoy the visuals of the plated surface. For reference, the first release of the standard version had a serious grip issue, which was fixed with improved fingers in the reissue — and thankfully the Special Coating version also comes with those improved fingers, making it much easier to hold weapons. That said, it's still hard to call them sturdy, and if you get the angle wrong the fingers can still separate from the weapon. Still, since the grip on the first release was so absolutely terrible (...), the improvement does feel significant by comparison.

So as you'd expect from a plated kit, the visuals are definitely a step up — but just like the standard release, the articulation still feels stiff, and there are quite a few parts that tend to fall off due to loose fitment. Even so, the satisfaction you get from the hefty pre-built frame and the premium look is substantial, so if visuals are what matter most to you, this is definitely a kit worth going for. :-)
