Following Mazinger Z, Great Mazinger has now been released in HG Infinity Ver. form. The joint runners are shared with the HG Mazinger Z, but with a completely new set of outer armor, the overall size has grown quite a bit. The general build quality and feel come out nearly identical to Mazinger Z.

Thanks to the excellent articulation and solid joint strength, it's really satisfying to pull off and hold all kinds of poses. The plastic is on the harder side, so gate cleanup can be a bit of a pain, but the assembly feel is still pretty good. The straight build visuals and proportions after completion look just as great as Mazinger Z. There are also basic features like Brain Condor detachment and Scramble Dash removal, but compared to Mazinger Z which came with drill missiles, Rocket Punch, and effect parts, the optional parts here feel relatively sparse.

That said, this is a thoroughly excellent, up-to-date renewal of Great Mazinger, and it's a great kit I'd highly recommend to old-school fans with a soft spot for Mazinger — build it alongside Mazinger Z! :-)
