YF-29 Durandal Valkyrie - Sheryl Marking ver

Kit Review

Straight build

Following the YF-29 Alto ver., the Sheryl marking version has now been released. The marking seals share a similar concept to the earlier 1/72 kit, but the big difference here is that the base color of the kit itself has been completely changed to a blue color scheme.

Just like the Alto ver., this kit looks very bare with just a straight build — but since it's a marking seals version, it really doesn't make much sense without applying them. As with the Alto ver., note that there are no waterslide decals included, only seals. One interesting thing about these marking seals is that, unlike the 1/72 version, they're made of a stretchy material. They do seem a bit thicker because of that, but the upside is that they stretch and conform smoothly even over curved surfaces, which makes the whole process a lot easier to work with.

Overall, this is a kit that really shows some consideration for us mere mortals — it's a unique one where the panel lining and seal work is easily ten times the amount of actual assembly, but I think it's still a fun build. And above all, if you're a Macross fan and a Sheryl fan, this is a must-have! :-)
