Kit Review
Straight build + Panel lining + Decals
Straight build + Panel lining + Decals
Following the VF-27 Brera Sterne unit, the normal type has now been released.
Compared to the Brera unit, the normal type features a green color scheme
and a different head. A commander type head part with the same shape as the Brera unit
is included as well, but since the seals are shared with the normal type,
you ultimately have to pick one or the other to build.
The overall quality is naturally identical to the Brera Sterne unit, and the biggest highlight
is the greatly improved locking mechanism compared to the VF-25.
However, just like with the Brera unit, you need to be extremely careful
as there's a risk of the locking pin in the crotch area snapping in Battroid mode. (Brera
Sterne unit review for reference)
The VF-27 already boasts more seals and decals than the VF-25, and this normal type
has even more than the Brera unit. That makes for some really flashy styling,
but the time spent on panel lining and seal work far exceeds the actual build time.
The Macross Frontier series feels like it's pretty much winding down at this point —
with over 10 variations released, it's definitely had a good run.
The VF-27 is an upgraded kit compared to the VF-25 in many ways, so if you're
into the overall look, this is a premium transforming kit I'd highly recommend. :-)
