Straight build + stickers
Straight build + stickers
Kamen Rider Skull has been released as the 4th entry in the Kamen Rider Double MGF series. Unlike the others, this is a black Kamen Rider with a skull face and rib cage markings — same basic structure, but it's got a seriously distinctive look all its own.
First off, the rib cage details on the face and chest are well done with color separation, and some areas use stickers to cleanly pull off the color combination. I especially appreciate that they actually separated the rib cage parts rather than just slapping a sticker on them. Also, unlike the other Kamen Riders, the coloring isn't symmetrical left-to-right, which gives the finished look a bit of a different feel.
Skull comes with an exclusive weapon bag that can hold multiple belt weapons and USBs. It's a simple design, but you don't often get the chance to build a bag out of a plastic model kit, so it's a surprisingly fun little assembly experience.
The articulation is still not quite as impressive as you might hope given the look of the figure, but there are enough moving parts that you can pull off most poses naturally. It's genuinely fun to play around with all kinds of dynamic poses.
It's a Kamen Rider series that keeps repeating the same basic structure with color variants and minor tweaks, but seeing them all together in a group shot makes it look so much more impressive. If you're a Kamen Rider Double fan, even if you skip the others, Skull is definitely one you should build. :-)
