Hot-blooded middle-aged hero show Tiger & Bunny — hot on the heels of Wild Tiger, Barnaby Brooks Jr. has been released as an MG Figure-rise as well. In the show, the heroes work together as a duo, and these two are the main protagonist pair.
The basic kit composition is naturally almost identical to Wild Tiger, but in practice there's almost no overlap — about 95% of the parts are brand new. I honestly expected the inner body frame to share at least some parts, but aside from a handful of joint pieces, it's all new components. Also, just like Wild Tiger, it comes out at a much higher quality than previous MG Figure-rise kits, with a lot more effort put into it.
The solid articulation and reliable joint strength that are a hallmark of MG Figure-rise are here at a similar level — the joints move smoothly while holding their positions nicely, which is great.. That said, the connections at individual joint segments feel a little on the weak side, and things tend to pop apart here and there when you're posing it around.
If Wild Tiger has the oversized fists, Barnaby Brooks Jr. comes with oversized legs for Good Luck Mode. The large, chunky volume combined with excellent color separation gives it a great sense of depth^^ Also, just like Wild Tiger, you can easily recreate Good Luck Mode using the included dedicated stand.
With Wild Tiger, applying stickers to every individual finger joint was quite a tedious process, and Barnaby Brooks Jr. shows a comparable amount of work. However, the areas where you apply stickers are relatively easier to deal with and there are fewer of them, so it's a bit more manageable.. Either way, it's a bit of a hassle even with a straight build + stickers, and if you're painting it, you can expect some straightforward but repetitive work.
Just like Wild Tiger, this is a high-quality kit that truly deserves the "MG" title — boasting far superior parts composition and quality compared to its predecessors. If you're a fan of the original anime, it's a must-buy alongside Wild Tiger, and even if you just like the look of it, it's a sharp-looking kit that's well worth building :-)
