Zaku II

Kit Review

Straight build + Panel lining

Following the Mega Size Char's Zaku II, the mass production type Zaku II was naturally released as well. It's basically a color variant, but the backpack has been newly redesigned to match the specs, and the rear leg verniers have also been reduced from three down to two.

The Mega Size mass production Zaku II comes with a Zaku bazooka that wasn't included with Char's version, along with a dedicated hand parts for holding it and a mounting parts for storing it on the rear skirt. And somehow, the price is set at the same ¥7,800 as Char's version. In other words, the bazooka is a very welcome bonus! ^^

The kit itself is naturally identical to Char's version in every way — it shows average articulation and surprisingly solid joint strength for its size. The green molded color looks quite premium, and the bonus bazooka is a decent addition too. The one downside is that the articulation isn't quite enough to pull off a convincing over-the-shoulder bazooka pose, so posing options are a bit limited.

At the end of the day, the Mega Size line is a product range focused purely on sheer bulk and proportions rather than articulation or detail, and from that perspective this kit absolutely delivers. If you had to choose between Char's version and the mass production type, most people would probably go for Char's — but with the bazooka thrown in as a bonus, it might give you a little something to think about. Of course, having both would be even better :-)
