One Piece Grand Ship Collection

Going Merry

Kit Review

Straight build + Stickers

The 3rd entry in the One Piece Grand Ship Collection is the Going Merry. As you'd expect, it probably should have come out before or right after the Thousand Sunny, but it ended up as the 3rd release after getting bumped by the Trafalgar submarine. ^^;

The overall kit composition, compact size, and little details are similar to the previous releases — but compared to the Thousand Sunny, which is also a sailing ship, it does feel a bit sparse overall. I think it mostly comes down to the design itself, but still, the relatively simple color combination is hard to ignore.

That said, thanks to the generous amount of stickers, it manages to pull off a pretty decent color scheme despite its small size, so it definitely holds its own as a cute little One Piece ship model kit. The wave effect parts, Action Base 2 compatibility, and other basic features are all the same as before.

Either way, true to the "Collection" title, it feels like a model that's perfectly suited for collecting in its small, cute size. No matter how great a kit is, it becomes a burden if it takes up too much space. This is a charming and lovely plastic model that I'd recommend to any One Piece fan. :-)
